Assessment Criteria for Benchmarking Arabic Morphological Analyzers and Generators

چکیده
Natural language processing applications are based on the morphology part. So they should meet some criteria in order to satisfy the required functionality. Assessing and evaluating of Arabic morphological systems depend on the input words and resulted output according to a predefined criteria to measure and analyze given system in order to study its weakness and strength, trying to find an Arabic morphological analyzer free from all mistakes. In this paper we developed the precise assessment criteria for Arabic morphological analyzers to be applied on a given Arabic morphological analyzers and stemming algorithms by voting, after running them on the sample documents selected as the gold standard.

XMODEL: An XML-based Morphological Analyzer for Arabic Language
Morphological analysis is an essential stage in language engineering applications. For the Arabic language, this stage is not easy to develop because the Arabic language has some particularities such as the phenomena of agglutination and a lot of morphological ambiguity phenomenon. These reasons make the design of the morphological analyzer for Arabic somewhat difficult and require lots of othe...
متن کاملMorphologically Annotated Corpora and Morphological Analyzers for Moroccan and Sanaani Yemeni Arabic
We present new language resources for Moroccan and Sanaani Yemeni Arabic. The resources include corpora for each dialect which have been morphologically annotated, and morphological analyzers for each dialect which are derived from these corpora. These are the first sets of resources for Moroccan and Yemeni Arabic. The resources will be made available to the public.
متن کاملRevisiting Multi-Tape Automata for Semitic Morphological Analysis and Generation
Various methods have been devised to produce morphological analyzers and generators for Semitic languages, ranging from methods based on widely used finitestate technologies to very specific solutions designed for a specific language or problem. Since the earliest proposals of how to adopt the elsewhere successful finite-state methods to root-andpattern morphologies, the solution of encoding Se...
متن کاملA Morphological Analyzer for Gulf Arabic Verbs
We present CALIMAGLF, a Gulf Arabic morphological analyzer currently covering over 2,600 verbal lemmas. We describe in detail the process of building the analyzer starting from phonetic dictionary entries to fully inflected orthographic paradigms and associated lexicon and orthographic variants. We evaluate the coverage of CALIMAGLF against Modern Standard Arabic and Egyptian Arabic analyzers o...
متن کاملUnsupervised Morphology Rivals Supervised Morphology for Arabic MT
If unsupervised morphological analyzers could approach the effectiveness of supervised ones, they would be a very attractive choice for improving MT performance on low-resource inflected languages. In this paper, we compare performance gains for state-of-the-art supervised vs. unsupervised morphological analyzers, using a state-of-theart Arabic-to-English MT system. We apply maximum marginal de...
